Bernama reported today that Idris Jusoh will head the Higher Education Ministry. The minister was reported to have said that the name coincided with the provision of the legislation relating to higher education.  The minister was obviously refering to the Private Higher Educational Institutions Act 1996. The Higher Education Ministry was originally established under the Badawi government in 2008. After the 2013 General election, Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak merged the Higher Education Ministry with the Education Ministry, reverting to the old position before 2008. Mary Yap Kain Ching is the new Deputy Minister in the Ministry.
