Leadership in Schools

The Malaysia Education Blueprint (2013-2015) ranks quality of school leaders as the second biggest school-based factor in determining student outcomes, after teacher quality. Naturally therefore, enhancing the quality of school leadership is one of the eleven shifts of the Blueprint.

Espact training programmes on leadership and principalship focus on the different areas in which leadership features such as instructional design, community relations and staff development to mention a few. The programmes are delivered as workshops or seminars and in many cases, individually to one or two persons through a mentoring process.

We have also developed short, one-day courses in leadership for pupils in secondary schools which have been popular with both the school administration and the pupils who participated in the programme. The Blueprint believes that a holistic education for schoolchildren should include the inculcation of leadership skills.
